Rainy Route B (The Lower Lakes)
The weather on day two in Plitvice Lakes was the polar (and it actually felt polar) opposite of the first day’s weather. When we got to the store on the trailhead Dad said “we should get ponchos,” Mom said “it is not raining, so no.” We got them anyway, which was a good idea because I would have been as wet as the ocean without one.
One good thing about the rain was that there were fewer crowds than normal. There were fewer waterfalls than the first day, but one of them was the biggest waterfall in the park.
The rain made the waterfalls stronger and faster, as well as giving the park a whole new atmosphere. There was a very cool view from the boat as water drops hit the lake creating almost magic circles of water.
I also puddle jumped a ton, which resulted in my shoes being tiny lakes… I guess it does fit in with a place that is famous for its lakes. Because of all the puddle jumping that I did my shoes were so wet that I rode barefoot on the car ride to Split. Mom even used the hairdryer on our shoes. Route B was the very wet, but equally fun route that we took on day two. Rain or shine we had a great time!!!!
